Sliver of Arch

There are many views of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. I caught just a sliver of the Arch between the many layered texture of the city which includes the abandoned, vintage buildings next to modern skyscrapers. Sony A7II 187mm 1/250@f6.3 ISO 400. Rope Bridge

In Cornwall, we went to the Lost Gardens of Heligan. We arrived early before the crowds and could capture the Burmese rope bridge before a line of other tourists started walking across. Nature's Light & Line.

Other photographers like to photograph flowers, and I do too at times, but I also look for lines and patterns in the foliage. This succulent at Kew Gardens may not have been the most obviously beautiful plant, but I liked the lines picked out in red against the green. Sony A7II 240mm 1/60@f6.3 ISO100

Tulip Staircase

This famous spiral staircase at Queen's House in Greenwich (London), U.K. is much photographed. Tulip refers to the decoration on the banister. To get this photograph, I laid down on the floor, much to the curiosity of passing tourists. Sony A7II 24mm 1/60@f11 ISO1000.

An empty road leading into the Valley of Fire in Nevada. I struggled to capture the sheer vastness of the desert landscape. This empty road leads my eye into the scene, but also brings a sense of scale to the landscape.

C Tree. I have a favorite place along the Mississippi River, part of the Riverlands area west of Alton, Illinois. There are glassy ponds behind (where this photo was taken) with some walking trails and open to canoeing.
